Reviewed 22 October 2026. IRCC states that it will not add or remove eligible PGWP fields of study during 2026. This is a time-limited statement about the 2026 list, rather than confirmation of every future year's settings.
Where a field-of-study condition applies, the official guidance uses a six-digit CIP classification. Applicants should ask their institution for the code relevant to the exact programme instead of inferring it from a broad course title. The official page also describes exceptions, including graduates with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
Save the course name, campus, intake and the institution's classification response together. Then check the applicable official requirements and relevant dates. A matching field classification is only one part of PGWP eligibility, so it should not be presented as a complete work-permit guarantee.
Review modules, practical assessment and how the qualification advances your existing skills. Compare full tuition and living costs without assuming immediate employment. If a course makes sense only because someone promises a particular immigration outcome, investigate the claim before paying.
Our Canada study planning guide provides the wider checklist. The public graduate PAL/TAL brief explains a different requirement that is sometimes confused with post-study eligibility. This article reviews existing guidance and does not claim a new freeze was announced today.
