Reviewed 22 October 2026. UGC-DEB advises learners to verify the recognition of the institution and programme for the actual admission session. Its DEB-ID FAQ also states that a valid DEB-ID is required for admission to ODL or online programmes and explains the ABC-ID connection.
Record the formal award, institution, mode and admission period. Recognition from a previous year should not be treated as confirmation for the next session. If a course is advertised through a counselling platform, identify the university that will actually award the degree.
Ask for the current programme information, complete fee schedule and official admission process. Keep dated evidence and payment receipts. A course enquiry or counselling call does not replace the university's enrolment requirements.
Review the syllabus, entry conditions, teaching schedule and assessment arrangements. Ask how questions are answered and assignments receive feedback. Flexibility helps only if you can manage the workload and access the support you need.
Use our online degree selection guide for the full comparison checklist and explore the iYou Global online course catalogue for subject options. The separate English test preparation guide covers examination coaching, which serves a different purpose from a recognised academic degree. This brief reviews ongoing student guidance and does not claim a new UGC rule was issued today.
