Indian Institute of Technology Madras has opened the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 application portal. Online registration began on September 2, 2026 through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Candidates choosing two papers must pay the fee for both test papers.
Candidates studying in the third year or above of an undergraduate degree, or those who have completed a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities, can apply subject to the detailed eligibility rules. Candidates with eligible qualifications from outside India may also apply, but GATE 2027 will be conducted only at centres in India.
GATE 2027 includes a new Robotics and Automation paper with the code RA. The examination now covers 30 test papers. IIT Madras has also revised several syllabi, paper codes and two-paper combinations, so repeat candidates should not rely only on last yearβs pattern.

2. Open the GOAPS link from the official GATE 2027 website.
3. Enter personal, academic and contact details as required.
4. Select the test paper, permitted second-paper option and preferred examination cities.
5. Upload the photograph, signature and applicable category or disability documents.
6. Pay the fee and download the completed application for reference.
The candidateβs name and date of birth should match the verified identity record. Applicants should use their own email address and mobile number and avoid creating multiple applications.
