The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the postgraduate medical seat matrix for the 2026–27 academic year, giving NEET PG candidates an early view of approved PG medical seats across institutions.
The seat matrix was published on September 29, 2026 and includes postgraduate courses and approved annual intake across medical colleges.
At the same time, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced that the PwD assessment process for Round 1 of PG Counselling 2026 will begin on October 1.
Candidates should note that the October 1 update is specifically related to the Persons with Disabilities assessment process. It should not be confused with the general NEET PG Round 1 registration schedule.

The NMC postgraduate seat matrix provides candidates with information about approved PG medical courses and intake capacity for the 2026–27 academic session.
Candidates can use the matrix to review details such as:
The matrix is useful for early counselling preparation, but candidates should remember that the final seats available during a particular MCC or state counselling round may differ.
NMC may also update the matrix if additional approvals or revisions are made.
MCC has issued a separate notice for candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category in NEET PG Counselling 2026.
The PwD assessment schedule is:
| Activity | Date |
|---|---|
| PwD Portal Activation | October 1, 2026 |
| Primary Medical Assessment | October 1 to October 9, 2026 |
| Primary Assessment Deadline | October 9 at 5 PM |
| Appellate Medical Assessment | October 5 to October 12, 2026 |

Eligible PwD candidates should complete the required medical assessment through the designated centres and process notified by MCC.

Candidates should be careful with this point.
October 1 is currently confirmed for the PwD assessment process.
It should not automatically be treated as the general Round 1 registration date for every NEET PG candidate.
The complete MCC counselling schedule will separately provide dates for:
Candidates should wait for MCC to publish the official Round 1 schedule before treating any date circulating elsewhere as confirmed.
Candidates should not look only at the total number of seats.

The seat matrix tells you where seats exist. It does not tell you automatically which seat you should choose.
Candidates should also understand that the currently published seat matrix may not necessarily remain unchanged throughout the admission process.
NMC can revise the seat position if additional courses or seat increases are approved by the competent authorities.
Therefore, candidates should check the latest version of the matrix again when MCC choice filling begins.
